Our vision for early childhood education
Chickadee Tree was created as a way to bring my vision for early childhood education to life. Every child deserves a warm, nurturing, and supportive environment in their early years to help form a solid foundation for later learning. I believe in fostering growth through individualized attention and a deep understanding of each child's needs.
A day at Chickadee Tree
The program is inspired by Waldorf education, the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, and Ms. Erin’s love of the outdoors, with a smattering of Montessori teachings. The philosophy behind this education is holistic, whole-child education. It is intended to develop the child’s intellectual, artistic, and practical skills through creativity and imagination, while utilizing practical and age-appropriate methods.
Building a solid foundation
In the early childhood setting, that looks like providing opportunities for children to develop strong physical skills and later introducing ample opportunities for imaginative and pretend play. Experiential learning, the arts, and rhythmic activities are the preferred teaching methods, with a healthy dose of play in our natural, outdoor world. We strive to create an environment where every person learns to care for others, treat people with respect, and understand their role in building a fair and supportive world. These values guide children and adults to act with empathy, contribute to the well-being of their community, and ensure that everyone feels included and valued.
